Fun, sun, ice cream and happy horses and riders - What a beautiful day for the RIAHA Fun in the Sun horse show on July 29!
Classes were well filled and a perfect mix of pleasure and equitation combined with games classes to truly test the skill of horse and rider. Thank you to our exhibitors for embracing the theme of having fun and enjoying time with your horses. We had many new faces in the arena and it was great to see so many smiles and laughs throughout the day!
We loved that the crowd got involved offering encouragement and cheering for their favorite in many of the classes. Our egg and spoon was hotly contested and ended up in a tie as neither of the top two riders looked like they were going to lose their egg any time soon. The "Simon Says" class caught many off guard with some tricky wording and the stormy seas trail class provided horses and riders a safe challenge of obstacles to negotiate.
Congratulations to our judges choice recipients. Our horsemanship award went to Diane Beaulieu and Clary's Stephen Taber and the sportsmanship award went to PJ Harden and JH Corazon. Well done!
A big thank you to our judge Chris Picardi, ringmaster Julia Eddy, and our gracious host Lucille Guilbault, owner of PondView Equestrian Center and to all of our volunteers who lent a helping hand (Nancy Russell, Cheryl Gerwatowski, PJ Harden, Cindy Downs) and parents who pitched in as gatekeepers and runners.
And, a big shout out to our ice cream social sponsors, Rondeau's Service Station (Sean and Rebecca Murphy), for providing the delicious treats for us all to enjoy. It was the perfect way to end the day.
